Invoices

    • Click here to view our Conference & Events: Cancellation and Late Fee Policy. Please note that renewal invoices will never accrue late fees.
    • If you renew your membership after it has expired, your new membership period will last for 12 months from the date of payment. 
  • ARSL now offers auto-renewal! If you opt-in to auto-renewal, your electronic payment method will be saved to your account and will be automatically charged your renewal amount at the end of your current membership term. Your renewed membership will be extended for 12 months on the same terms and conditions contained in this Agreement. Please note that automatic renewal is only available for members who pay by credit card. You can opt out of this automatic renewal service at any time by taking any of the following actions:

    1. providing ARSL written notice that you would like to opt out of automatic renewals at least 7 days prior to the expiry of the initial term;

    2. updating your automatic renewal preferences by filling out the Membership Automatic Renewal Form during your renewal period;

    3. logging in to your ARSL account and deselecting the "Automatically Renew" box in your member profile.

All ARSL Member Benefits!

Leadership & Engagement

  • All ARSL members are eligible to run for the Board of Directors. Candidate nominations open in May, candidates are announced in June, candidate forums are in early July, and voting runs from late July to early August. All ARSL members are eligible to vote. Results are announced in mid-August. Click here to apply or find out more information about the election process.
  • All ARSL members are also eligible to join any ARSL Committee. The annual Call for Volunteers opens in mid-September.
  • The Annual ARSL Awards honor outstanding rural & small library workers and libraries whose work demonstrates leadership, innovation, equity, and service. These awards are only open to ARSL members. Applications open in January. Recipients are recognized during the Awards Ceremony at the annual ARSL Conference - in addition to their award, they receive one complimentary conference registration.

Free Professional Development

  • All ARSL TRAIN workshops and roundtables are free for all members! These online offerings are designed to support and connect library professionals, and are planned by the Continuing Education Committee. 
  • Members also have access to the exclusive TRAIN Archive, with over five years of workshop recordings. This is the perfect resource to continue your professional development at your own pace.
  • The Peer Mentorship program matches seasoned library professionals with newcomers to the field. Applications open in the fall!

Networking & Community

  • ARSL's Professional Networking Groups are one-hour online meetings designed to allow ARSL members to network, share ideas, find support, and build community. All networking groups are facilitated by ARSL member-leaders. 
  • ARSL's Regional Forums are dedicated spaces for members to discuss the unique needs, opportunities, and challenges of their regions. These forums are facilitated by the Board's Regional Representatives.
  • The ARSL E-list is a dynamic resource for members to provide resources, solve problems, and share success stories with other rural and small library professionals and advocates across the United States and internationally.

  • ARSL members receive exclusive discounted conference and preconference registration rates. The annual ARSL conference is designed specifically for library staff and advocates for rural and small communities. To increase accessibility, the conference location cycles between the four ARSL regions (West, South, Midwest, and Northeast).

  • All ARSL members receive the Grants Opportunity Digest, an email delivered every first Thursday which streamlines applicable grant and award opportunities and resources for small & rural librarians nationwide.
