2026 Overcoming Obstacles: Enhancing Access to Professional Development for Solo Librarians Grant Program
Grant Program Overview
This project aims to identify and address the barriers that prevent solo librarians, particularly those in small and rural communities, from accessing professional development opportunities. This planning grant will explore the real-world obstacles these librarians face by gathering insights from subject matter experts, facilitating focus groups, and conducting a national survey. The project will produce a comprehensive report and potential strategies to address these obstacles and improve access for new training options.
The project outcomes will guide library organizations in developing targeted, effective programs that ensure equitable access to professional development and educational opportunities for library staff working solo or with limited staff support.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services [RE-259035-OLS-25].
