Burnsville Public LibraryBurnsville Public Library’s after-school STEM program started small but grew to serve over 100 kids a week—a game-changer for their small-town community.

Let’s talk about after-school programs! The Burnsville Public Library in Burnsville, West Virginia, has a flourishing after-school program. According to the library director, Beth Anderson, “It started in January 2017 as a one-night-a-week after-school STEM program.” By the fall of 2017, “it grew to a four-nights-a-week program,” featuring different themes each day. Beth proudly noted, “We serve between 100 and 120 students each week with the program. For a very small library with only 1.13 FTE, we are extremely proud of being able to provide this type of program.”
