ARSL Spotlight: Todd Deck

Todd DeckThe Sacramento Public Library is bringing the community outdoors with bilingual birdwatching, body-positive hikes, and upcoming public art installations, all thanks to their Parks and Tranquility Grant.

For today’s ARSL Spotlight we hear from a fellow ARSL member, Todd Deck.  He says, “The Sacramento Public Library is a rural, suburban and urban library system. Recreational equity is a challenge in a large geographic area. The Sacramento Public Library is working to address this via our parks and tranquility grant. We are now offering a variety of programs outside in parks all throughout Sacramento county. So far our most popular programs have been bilingual birdwatching and a body positive hike. In July we will be holding several community driven art installations at our state parks and look forward to continuing this work. This program was made possible via a grant from the California State Library.”
